Dear friends of Constru Casa:
As always, we hope you’re doing well and that the pandemic in which we are situated will stay far away from you and your loved ones.
Constru Casa takes its responsibility and works hard to move forward, despite the situation created by the Corona crisis, which also in Guatemala has major consequences. We have managed to keep working on Health and Nutrition programs and even built 2 emergency homes. You can read all about it in this newsletter!
A story of solidarity and trust
On the last day of April, Eva and Yesica lost all their belongings due to a devastating fire that completely destroyed their two houses. Eva and Yesica are both single moms and together they have 8 children.
Fortunately, friends and staff at Constru Casa offered to help out these families and two new houses were built in record time, how wonderful! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this possible.
In response to the humanitarian crisis that the coronavirus has caused in Guatemala, we have raised additional funds to send food to families for whom we built houses in the past, as well as for some of our construction workers that from one moment to the other were left without work and no income.
Each food bag contains dried vegetables, including carrots and broccoli, which have many important nutrients. We estimate that each bag will last a week.
We have worked with partner organizations including Corazón de los Niños and Love Guate to deliver the food to the families. Due to restrictions on interdepartmental travel in force throughout Guatemala, this partnership was essential to success.
