Caroline’s journey began in 2000 when she arrived in Guatemala after years of impactful work in the Netherlands as a project manager in housing and social housing sectors. It was here, amidst the vibrant culture and striking landscapes, that she discovered her passion for building brighter futures through housing construction and educational initiatives. From the outset, she fostered partnerships with local NGOs, driven by her unwavering commitment to support communities in need.
In 2004, Caroline’s vision took root in the form of a groundbreaking partnership with a Dutch social housing company and two local organizations, marking the genesis of CONSTRU CASA. Her dream was simple yet profound: to provide families in need with dignified living spaces and empower them to thrive. Today, her legacy lives on as CONSTRU CASA continues to transform countless lives, from constructing homes to implementing vital community and health programs.
Despite her globe-trotting adventures, having lived in Guatemala for 14 years and Spain for 4, Caroline has now returned to the Netherlands with her daughter. Yet, her spirit remains deeply intertwined with Constru Casa’s mission, as she continues to lead the charge and foster international partnerships. With every endeavor, Caroline embodies the belief that even the smallest acts of compassion can illuminate the path towards a brighter future for Guatemala’s most vulnerable.

Our Story
Our purpose
Carolina had the vision to found CONSTRU CASA after witnessing firsthand the precarious housing conditions in Guatemala. Inspired by the desire to be part of the change and provide a better future for Guatemalan families, she decided to establish this NGO. Despite starting without significant resources, her determination and commitment led her to work tirelessly to make her vision a reality. Over time, Constru Casa became a pillar in housing construction and community development in Guatemala, positively impacting the lives of thousands of people.
CONSTRU CASA celebrated its fifth anniversary with a record number of completed constructions, marking a significant milestone in its mission to provide decent housing to needy families in Guatemala. This year also saw the launch of new community programs to address broader needs, from education to basic medical care.
CONSTRU CASA expanded its operations to new rural areas and marginalized communities, reaching a record number of beneficiaries and families positively impacted. In addition, strategic alliances were established with local and international organizations to expand the reach and effectiveness of community development programs.
CONSTRU CASA Continues to provide community development in Guatemala. With thousands of homes built and a strong network of volunteers, donors and allies, the organization continues to be a beacon of hope for families in need. In addition, new innovative projects were launched to address emerging challenges and continue moving toward a future where every Guatemalan has a safe place to call home.
