Acalon Family
Jessica and Melvin are a hardworking couple residing in Santa Maria de Jesus, Sacatepequez. They have two beautiful daughters, Wendy (9) and Damaris (7). Currently, the entire family lives in cramped quarters at Jessica’s parents’ house, as they do not have a place of their own to move into. This lack of space restricts the freedom of their daughters to play and move around freely in the house. They are confined to just one room, graciously lent to them by Jessica’s father for the time being. Melvin works as an agricultural worker, but his income is limited, making it challenging for the family to save up for their own home. Their current living conditions are far from ideal, with overcrowding being a significant issue. The shared facilities, including a single bathroom, are utilized by four other families living in the same compound. The lack of space and privacy not only affects their quality of life but also presents health and safety concerns.
Thanks to our ambassadors from Holland, Guus and Frederika, we were able to make Jessica’s family’s dream a reality. With their generous support, we constructed a new home that has transformed their lives. Jessica’s family, who once faced numerous challenges related to inadequate housing, now enjoys a safe and secure place to live. This new home represents more than just a physical structure; it symbolizes hope, stability, and a fresh start.
This home is a testament to the profound impact that collaborative efforts and generous support can have on a family’s life. We are immensely grateful to our ambassadors for helping us bring about this positive change.
Chavez Piche Family
Doña Elalia’s family faces the daily difficulties of living in precarious conditions in the community of Santa María de Jesús. Currently, their home consists of a single room where the kitchen is located, creating a cramped space that not only limits their comfort, but also represents an unhygienic and disease-prone environment.
The lack of adequate separation between sleeping and food preparation areas further hinders their quality of life. In addition, the family lacks sufficient storage space for their belongings, including their children’s clothes, which adds an additional challenge to their day-to-day life.Despite these adverse conditions, Doña Elalia’s family keeps hope alive for a better future.
Thanks to the help of Ohio State University and Constru Casa, we were able to build a new home and transform the life of the family. With a safe and secure place to live, they now have a new beginning and a second chance to improve their living situation. Before this intervention, the family faced numerous challenges related to inadequate housing, including health and safety concerns. Now, with a sturdy and well-constructed home, they experience a newfound sense of stability and security.
Constru Casa’s support has provided more than just a physical structure; it has given the family hope and the opportunity to focus on their future without the constant worry of their living conditions. The children can now study in a conducive environment, and the parents can concentrate on their work and family life with greater peace of mind. This home is a testament to the profound impact that collaborative efforts and generous support can have on a family’s life, creating a foundation for a brighter and more promising future.
Donisio Family
Mr. Dionisio, along with his wife and two children, was known for his tireless dedication to supporting his family, working long hours in local agriculture. However, life had not been easy for them. They resided in Dionisio’s parents’ house, where they only had a small shared room. Space was limited, and they often had to move furniture to achieve a minimal level of comfort and privacy.
The situation was further complicated by the lack of their own home. Despite owning a piece of land, Dionisio’s variable income and financial limitations had prevented them from building a more spacious and suitable house for their family. This situation had deeply impacted the quality of life for everyone. The children, especially, lacked a place where they could study and play freely. They dreamed of having their own house, and Constru Casa managed to fulfill this family’s dream with the help and support of donors. This change was truly transformative: they enjoyed a home with enough space for everyone, with separate rooms for the children and a functional kitchen where Dionisio’s wife could prepare meals more comfortably.
The emotional impact was significant. The family felt more united and secure in their new home, with renewed hope for building a more stable and promising future. For Dionisio, seeing the smiles on his children’s faces and the peace in his wife was the greatest reward for all the challenges they had overcome.
Constru Casa has been instrumental in transforming the housing situation of numerous Guatemalan families. Thanks to the generous support of our donors and the tireless commitment of our ambassadors, we have been able to fulfill the dream of many families to have a safe and adequate home. Each project not only involves the construction of walls and roofs but also the building of hope and dignity for those most in need.
Our work extends beyond physical construction; it emotionally impacts families by providing them a place to grow, study, and thrive. With each completed house, we witness how it changes the lives of families, offering them stability and a foundation for a better future. We are dedicated to continuing this vital work, ensuring that more families can experience the positive transformation that a secure and dignified housing can provide.
