Needs and Challenges

At CONSTRU CASA, we are dedicated to addressing the pressing needs and challenges faced by
families living in extreme poverty in Guatemala.

  • Housing Crisis: Many families live in substandard conditions, with inadequate shelter that exposes them to health risks and insecurity. The demand for safe, durable housing far exceeds the available resources.
  • Funding: Securing sufficient funds to build homes and support programs is an ongoing challenge. We rely heavily on the generosity of donors, sponsors, and fundraising events to sustain our mission.
  • Infrastructure: Beyond housing, communities lack essential infrastructure such as clean water, sanitation facilities, and reliable energy sources. Building this infrastructure requires additional resources and expertise.
  • Community Engagement: Involving local communities in the planning and construction process is vital for ensuring the sustainability of our projects. However, mobilizing community participation and securing local support can be challenging.
  • Follow-Up Support: Providing continuous support to families after they receive their new homes is essential for long-term impact. This includes education, health services, and economic opportunities, all of which require ongoing funding and coordination.

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference. By working together with local partners, volunteers, and donors, we strive to overcome these obstacles and create lasting change for the families and communities we serve.

Solutions

CONSTRU CASA addresses Guatemala’s critical housing needs by providing safe and dignified housing solutions to vulnerable communities. Limited financial resources present a significant challenge in reaching all families in need, hindering our ability to expand and provide homes. 

We maximize impact through close collaboration with local communities, organizations, and volunteers, leveraging partnerships to build homes and support infrastructure projects.

Creative fundraising initiatives are vital for bridging the funding gap, engaging donors and sponsors through campaigns and events. Advocacy and awareness efforts highlight the housing crisis, advocating for policy changes and garnering support. Continuous refinement of strategies ensures efficient use of resources, optimizing project management and minimizing costs. 

Beyond housing, we empower communities with education, skills development, and health programs, aiming to break the cycle of poverty and foster sustainable change. With innovative solutions and dedicated support, CONSTRU CASA strives to enhance lives and expand impact across Guatemala.

Our strategy is based on:

  • Local Partnerships: We collaborate with local organizations to identify and prioritize families living in extreme poverty, ensuring sustainable and appropriate solutions for their needs.
  • Fundraising: We receive financial support nationally and internationally through donations, sponsorships, events, and grants, which are essential for funding our projects.
  • Housing Construction: We build safe and resilient homes with high-quality materials, tailored to each family's needs. We also include holistic elements like water filters and improved stoves.
  • Follow-Up Plan: We provide continuous support for four years after the house is delivered, with workshops on nutrition, education, health, and more, to ensure a comprehensive improvement in the quality of life for the families.
